We had a hunt near where I originated - up on't Pennines in a little village.

How the hell did I end up in Hayes in Middlesex??? I have no idea.

Loved it as a kid. Miss it to this day.

Another great shot. They have fox hunting near here. Is this done near your home?

Hello 4Ds. Hi Lori- The meet took place about 400 yards from our home. Your next question is difficult. Foxhunting was made illegal about two and a half years ago. A good many packs are still kept though, and taken out several times a year, usually 'drag hunting', I believe. This means they follow a scent laid down artificially.
I've followed hounds forty years or so ago, when I had access to the mounts in a friend's stable. This was in the north of our county, and I followed the Waveney Harriers and, I think, the West Norfolk Foxhounds. I was never a member but always 'paid cap'. This meant (then) that I stuck a ten shilling note in the huntsman's cap - which he held out to non members. I think it's rather more formal thes days. I should add that since hunting was banned, there's been an explosion in the fox population.
Warm regards, Mike.
