Good Friday.

The above are hot cross Buns made this afternoon. Ann made a dozen and we had one each with our afternoon tea.
I spent most of this afternoon making a new seatboard for a grandfather clock by a local maker (Richard Cole, of Ipswich). It was made circa 1790 - 1800. Lot of work to be done on it, but basically it's an attractive clock. Just taken a photograph of it in its 'before' state. Be interesting to see what it will look like in a week or so in its 'after' state.
Just had supper - last of the beef casserole with a baked potato each. I was about to come down and blog when Ann called me back to make eleven marzipan eggs for the top of a simnel cake she is making. It was like playing with plasticine. Smelt better, though. When done toasted the top of it under the grill. Ann says that Helga and her sister Ingeborg are coming to tea on Sunday, so the simnel cake was necessary, as it will be Easter Sunday. It is, I think, now necessary for me to go and do a bit more work in the workshop before bed. So will wish you all a very good night.
