Thursday 2.

At the other end of the market place last friday was the fish stall. It does seem rather a waste of a good, big, market place (for a small town) to have only two stalls on it. There used to be much more, but lately it's been shrinking. Just after I'd finished the last blog, our Choirmistress 'phoned to say that choir practice had been cancelled. So we had supper then played a two handed game of scrabble instead. Very close, well faught game, and I have to record that Ann thrashed me by twenty points - 345 to my 325 points. Pleasant day and a good evening. Goodnight All.

Dash it all Mike, that isn't a wet-fish stall! It's a good disguise but it looks more like a get-away vehicle for a press-gang or white-slavers - don't let Ann go near it.

Even Pootatu thinks it's misnamed, her v-word is 'inomali'.

Have a word with the market inspector and if it is legitimate, hold a Charities Market - The Church Book-stall, white elephants/jumble, get your local Rotarians involved and any charity shops, perhaps a special market once a month - a Farmers'/Gardeners' market for local produce, an open air antique fair, a Continental Market, a Michaelmas,Christmas and Lady day Market - whatever gets folk gawking and talking.
Get your local Radio and Newspaper involved - once the sellers re-appear buyers will come from the wider hinterlands of Anglia. It sounds as though your market is about to die along with its millenia of history unless your council get a swift reminder (boot up the bum) to promote its positive attractions.
