Ann gave Tia the job of putting all the furniture back in the doll's house (which had recently been emptied) and Tia complied with alacrity and obviously thoroughly enjoyed the job. The doll's house is Victorian and lives under the stairs in the hall. We had a lovely day. They arrived before lunch. We had a roast chicken, followed by an apple pie.

Yes, it's an interesting one. Ann bought it in Sussex some years ago. The front comes off in two halves (upper and lower). The back also comes off and is made like the back of a house of its period. Which leads me to your question. I think it was made in the late Victorian period, probably around 1890 to 1900, or a few years either side of those dates. It was a bit shaky when purchased, so some repairs had to be done. When we 'downsized' to our present address Ann decided to keep just the one doll's house (she had three) and this one is it. The others went to two of the daughters.
P.s. Not, I think, commercially made, but 'estate built'.
