Today is Ann's birthday. Ann served at the mid day short communion service.Then home and had a quick sandwich and fruit lunch in the garden, as above. We then motored over to Bury St. Edmund's where we met up at the Angel hotel at 2.30ish with her three brothers and their two (surviving) wives.
We took tea in the lounge of the hotel. They provided a very decent tea for us with smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches, etc. The above photo shows Ann chatting to her oldest brother, Michael. The chocolate rose in her left hand is from a very decent chocolate cake provided by middle brother David
The above photo was taken (by a very obliging young waiter who seemed to know ALL about cameras- he used mine, David's and Mick's successively and successfully) in the front hall of the hotel just before we left. From left to right we are meself, youngest brother Tim, his wife Sue, birthday girl enthroned in the centre, Maureen (middle brother David's wife), David, and senior brother Michael. This evening, since we've been home, Ann has been 'phoning the daughters to thank them for cards etc. , and to tell them them what a lovely birthday she's had. Quite agree, been a lovely day.

Hello Pat. Ann says thank you for your birthday wishes, and that she is Aries. And yes, it's nice that Ann's brothers are all in the - well- East of England anyway.

Two birthdays in our family shared with Ann.
Ian's aunt was 100 on March 25th so we went to Kent to join with her wider family for celebrations. Maria, known as Nicky, is Italian, the widow of Ian's father's younger brother. She lives with her daughter; her grand daughter is fairly near and so she sees the twin great grandchildren regularly.
Aunty Nicky has all her faculties too and misses very little!
It was also Ian's birthday, rather overlooked in the celebrations for his aunt, but marked appropriately by his close family.

Sunday marked the 100th birthday of Ian's aunt and it was also Ian's birthday. We drove to Kent to join the family celebrations for Maria (known as Nicky from her Italian maiden name). Aunty Nicky, the widow of Ian's father's younger brother, is very alert, still with it and in reasonable health considering her age. She lives with her daughter, visited regularly by grand daughter and twin great grandson and great grand daughter.
Ian's birthday was slightly over shadowed but of course our immediate family marked it well.

Hello P.M. and Ian. It's good to hear from you, and we're looking forward to meeting you at Z's do. A hundredth birthday in a family is quite something. We both wish Ian many happy returns of the day.
